Friday Favorites Vol. 4

Well hello there, did you see we got our first post up? Thrilling! I haven’t done an official launch of the podcast, yet I see we’re already getting some downloads. So to whoever has found us out there… WELCOME and THANK YOU! Our official podcast launch will be the end of next week, so look forward to several new interviews coming up. And if you don’t mind, send some positive technology vibes this way because my goodness, I love talking to moms, but I am STRUGGLING with the technical aspect of it. The only consolation is that it can only get easier. This is as hard as it will ever be. I find that comforting, despite feeling presently inept.

Anywhoo… how about some favorites?

  1. Orange Chicken from Trader Joes. If you don’t have a Trader Joes near you, I’m sorry for you. My closest one is a 30 min drive so I only get there every few weeks, but I’m always glad to stock up on my favorites when I’m there. In the freezer section is this magical chicken. Not the healthiest, but on those nights where you are contemplating McDonald’s… this is surely a better option. There is a stir fry or an oven baked option when it comes to cooking the chicken. I bake the chicken for 20 min (flip once) and it’s super simple and crispy. No need for extra fry-age. This stuff is addictive. Try it, and you’re welcome.
  2. Spice storage: For years I had my spices stacked on top of each other in the pantry. It was a nightmare trying to find the right one, they’d inevitably knock each other over as I was searching, and I never knew what I had or didn’t have. Then I heard about the idea of laying the spices down face up in a drawer. Life changing. You may think I’m being dramatic, but I am not. In all seriousness, for someone who accesses her spices on the daily, being able to easily read the labels and remove spices with ease has been such an improvement. It’s funny how we put up with things on a daily basis that don’t work or drive us crazy, but then by just making a simple change, that annoyance just vanishes and we wonder, “Why didn’t we do that sooner?” Put your spices in a drawer today.
  3. My baby boy Jackson. You guys, Baby #3 has been magical in my life. I feel so much more settled in my parenting, my expectations are way-haaaayyyy lower, and I’m just enjoying this little bundle. It’s awesome. I hope that no matter what number child you are on, enjoy them. Enjoy whatever season you are in because the time goes fast and while every day may not be glamorous, it’s a precious chapter in beautiful life story you are writing. IMG_7455
